Beginner Series — FAQ
Who can take a Beginner Series?
We recommend this for anyone who is brand new up to about 10 games played.
What do I need to bring?
Just you! We provide all Mahjong tiles and materials. We’ll also have Mahjong sets and accessories available for purchase—fair warning… it quickly becomes an obsession 😏
Can I book and pay for a friend?
Yes! When registering, enter your friend’s information for the attendee, but use your email so we can send you the invoice.
If you have any questions, call us at 580-658-0191.
How many Beginner Series should I take?
If you want to truly learn the game, we recommend attending around 10 sessions.
We require at least 5 sessions before joining League Play—this helps you feel confident, understand the flow, and actually enjoy the experience without frustration.
What does “series” mean?
Our Beginner Series is designed as a progression. Each session starts with the fundamentals, but we introduce different strategies and techniques every time.
By the time you’ve attended several sessions, you’ll notice everything starting to click—and by 10, you’ll have a strong foundation.
Does it matter which location I attend?
Not at all! You can bounce between locations—we’ll guide you seamlessly into any session you choose.
Beginner Series
New to Mahjong? You’re in the right place.
Our Beginner Series is designed to take you from “I’ve never played” to confidently sitting at the table and calling MAHJONG!
Each session is a 3-hour experience where we guide you step-by-step through the game. You’ll learn how to read the card, understand the tiles, and play through real games with support from two instructors the entire time.
We typically play two guided games per session—so you’re not just learning, you’re actually playing, practicing, and building confidence as you go.
We keep classes limited to 16 players to make sure everyone gets the attention they need (and to keep the energy fun and social).
$35 per player
✨ What’s included:
• Guided instruction + hands-on gameplay
•Typically two instructors at every session
• Mahjong tables, tiles, and full setup
• Beginner-friendly handouts
• Fun party favors + light snacks
Mahjong is a layered game, so we recommend attending multiple Beginner Series sessions (around 5–10) to really understand the strategy and feel confident moving into open play or league nights.
Whether you come with friends or show up solo, you’ll leave knowing more, laughing a lot, and already planning your next game.
